As of today: BrumeBlog.Com carries no affiliate links, no advertising, and no sponsored content. Nothing on this site earns us a commission when you buy a monitor.
How the site is funded
BrumeBlog is self-funded. Running a static site is inexpensive — a domain and hosting — and at present that cost is simply absorbed rather than recovered from readers or advertisers.
We are stating this plainly because "independent" is a word every site uses. The test is whether there is a commercial reason to recommend one monitor over another. Right now there is none.
What we do not accept
- Paid placements. No brand can buy a mention, a position in a list, or a favourable conclusion.
- Sponsored articles. We do not publish content written or paid for by a manufacturer.
- Guest posts and link insertions. We do not sell links, exchange links, or accept articles in return for a backlink.
- Copy approval. No manufacturer sees a guide before it publishes or has any say in what it concludes.
- Press releases. We do not republish them as news.
Review hardware
We do not currently accept loaned or gifted hardware. If that changes, the arrangement will be disclosed on every page that relies on it — naming the manufacturer, whether the unit was loaned or kept, and confirming that no conditions were attached to coverage.
A unit provided by a manufacturer is disclosed whether or not the resulting guide is favourable. That is the point of disclosing it.
If affiliate links are ever added
Many independent sites eventually use affiliate links to stay viable, and we are not ruling it out. If BrumeBlog.Com does, these rules apply and will not be quietly dropped:
- Disclosure appears above the content on every affected page, not buried in a footer.
- Recommendations are decided before any link is added, never reordered by commission rate.
- Links point to what the guide actually recommends — no substituting a higher-paying alternative.
- A monitor we advise against does not get an affiliate link attached anyway.
- This page is updated first, with the date changed, so the record shows when it happened.
Why this matters for monitor advice
Display buying guides are unusually exposed to this problem. Commission is a percentage of sale price, so there is a structural pull toward recommending the more expensive panel. A 240 Hz TN at the right price is sometimes the honest answer for a competitive player, and it is also one of the worst-paying recommendations a site can make. We would rather be able to give that answer.
